User Profiles

MusicFestivalSuite.com uses Profiles to help festival participants manage their festival experience.  There are many reasons for using such a system, not the least of which is to adhere to the various provincial and federal laws governing privacy.  Through the use of User Profiles, festivals can communicate more effectively with their stakeholders, and users can maintain a history of their experiences to inform their musical learning strategies.

Click on the appropriate links below to learn how to create profiles of each type.

Types of User Profiles

Any user can be any one or a combination of any of the roles listed below.

Entrants (including Groups)

These are the actual performers in the music festival.  Entrant Profiles are also linked to their Teachers' Profiles and, if they are under the age of 18, their Parent Profiles.  Through linking these profiles together, everyone can remain informed of the Entrant's music festival experience.
Group Entrants are identified as such, and can only enter in classes identified for groups such as choirs and bands.  Smaller Ensembles, usually less than 12 people, register instead as individual Entrants.

Teachers

Entrants must link their profiles to their Teachers to give Teachers full access and control over students' musical learning experiences during the music festival.  Teachers are also the most-likely individuals to be familiar with, the syllabus.  Entrants who are self-taught must instead accept full responsibility for understanding the syllabus.

Teacher Profiles must be created before Entrant Profiles (both individual and group) are created.

Volunteers

To help volunteers with their efforts, Volunteer Profiles link Volunteers to the schedule of a music festival.  In this way, volunteers are kept apprised of any changes to a volunteer schedule.  They can also be made aware of any openings in the schedule, and also make contact with other volunteers directly if they are suddenly unable to participate.  It is also easy for a music festival to show appreciation to their volunteers if they can communicate easily with them.

Parents

Parent Profiles are required for the creation of Entrant Profiles where the Entrant is under the age of 18.  This is to ensure the parent or guardian of each participant is fully aware of their child's activities and, by linking their profiles, provides the child with permission to participate in festival.

A Parent Profile must be created before an individual Entrant's Profile who is under the age of 18 is created.

Accompanists

One of the most important support individuals in musical performances is the Accompanist.  With MusicFestivalSuite.com, Accompanists are no longer the "unsung heroes".  Accompanist Profiles are not linked directly to Entrants or any other Profile, but are rather linked to individual registrations and performances.  In this way, the music festival can communicate any changes or special provisions directly to Accompanists so they remain well informed throughout the festival.

Adjudicators

Adjudicators are seldom local, and therefore very difficult to communicate with in a uniform way.  MusicFestivalSuite.com's Adjudicator Profiles provide a portal for that communication.  Adjudicators can log into their profiles to see a complete list of the musical selections they will be adjudicating, and therefore be better prepared for the specific needs of the music festival.  This complete listing does not show Entrant names, and so complete anonymity is maintained.
